Keith Belisle has over eighteen years of experience with birds of prey. He is deemed an expert in his field and is often called upon by local veterinarian offices for hands-on assistance in surgeries and alternative husbandries. He has plenty of experience in rehabilitation, nutrition and releases with multiple educational programs, including; 4-H club, Department of Juvenile Justice, Sheriffs’ Department, animal cruelty programs with local schools and making individual educational cage buildings built for flight and holding.
Being a registered Native American Indian, Keith strongly believes that animals are here on this Earth for us to protect and preserve. People should know the importance of our wildlife through learning about them and seeing them in their habitat. Some of the birds that have been rescued include; eagles, osprey, owls, hawks, doves, waterfowl, parrots, crows, turkeys, geese, cardinals, kestrel hawks, teat sparrows, kites and chimney swifts. Injuries have included being shot at by bb guns and rifles, struck by blow darts, getting hit by vehicles, being harmed maliciously by humans such as ducks being skinned, owls being thrown in a dumpster, as well as not being raised properly by humans. Keith has taught many animals to fly again and to hunt for their food. He has mended broken bones and appendages, such as wings and toes. He has helped owls to stand up again through physical therapy and massage.
After receiving veterinary care, animals are kept and cared for, or taught how to hunt for food and reconditioned in flight cages, then returned to their original place of rescue for release.
Kenneth Lane has been assisting Keith with the rescues and releases for over the past eighteen years. He is familiar with the proper care and treatment of the wild animals. He has a strong devotion and loving drive to give the animals the attention and care that they deserve. He is in charge of the filming of educational programs and releases, as well as being the treasurer for OWLS.
